We get it. You’ve got style. You love your sheers complimenting your rugs, which match your perfectly styled coffee table. And then you become a mum, the kids come along and next thing you know your ribbed candle on the console table has been replaced, yet again, by another bright yellow Tonka Trunk. Where it most certainly does not belong.
But what if we told you it doesn’t actually have to be like this? Because luckily for you, we’ve done the homework to put together a list of Playroom finds that we are totally obsessing over ( and that don't have to be stashed away when your besties come over for a visit!). Meet the 100% on-trend, stylish, luxe-AF Australian-owned brands who are about to blow your mind!
Boucle For Kids
Boucle isn’t just reserved for your new designer armchair. Keep the trend flowing right through to the playroom with The Playtime Store’s Boucle Foam Ball Pit featuring all the things we love: antiallergenic foam, machine washable fabric, tonnes of colour options, and of course 200 balls that will keep your little occupied for hours on end!
Speaking of designer boucle armchairs, we’ve fallen absolutely head over heels for the SABA Kids Chair by Nordic-inspired furniture design company Charlie Crane. This gorgeous mini armchair is made from Beech Wood and 100% Italian fabric (grey felt or boucle options) – the only downside is they haven’t made one big enough for us yet! Luckily you won’t need to travel to the other side of the world to get your hands on this newbie as Aussie-owned brand Antipoda Co have these stunners available to ship Australia-wide. #YesPleaseAndThankyou.
Statement Pieces
If there is one brand showing how far we’ve come from the $12 Flip-out-sofa days, it's ARKi Tribe! Our styling team had the pleasure of featuring the ARKi Base Camp in a recent Playroom shoot and it did not disappoint. It quite literally transforms into a dinosaur, a horse, a tent, oh, and a car, the options were endless, and the team had a ball coming up with different configurations from the 8-piece set. Even better, the ARKi Play Couch comes in a huge range of colours and fabrics which can also be mixed up to create your ideal combo.
After the fun was over, it neatly converted straight back into the comfy sofa design. A huge thumbs up from us!
We want big, bulky Playroom equipment to tie in nicely with the rest of the space, or even better, with the rest of the entire house - and the fun and daring yet oh-so stunning range from Nimble Kids does exactly just that. You've probably already heard of Piklers and Climbing Frames by now, but you're yet to see ones this beautiful.
Hand-made right here in Australia, Nimble Kids have created play equipment made from 100% Hoop Pine and designed with practicality and purpose in mind - easily foldable to be hidden away when not in use but pretty enough to be left out. They offer their products in a natural finish or brightly coloured with fun add-ons such as a Magnetic Board, Ramp Slide and Magnetic letters.
Nothing says statement like the Revolving Solid Wood Bookcase by My Duckling. Eco-friendly and made from 100% solid Rubber Wood the bookcase is designed to grow with your child and truly last a lifetime. Featuring removable side boxes and the removable signature wooden duck means once they have grown out of their 'draw-all-day' toddler years they'll still have a beautiful bookcase to see them through their teens and beyond. The genius design and visual aesthetic is what makes this bookcase an easy choice for any luxe Playroom.
Décor and Furnishings
Leave your $2,000 Slow Weave Rug in the living room, because we’ve got the solution for you that will work just as well with your interior styling, won’t cost a bomb, and certainly won’t be an issue when the paint is spilled. Biodegradable, wipeable, eco-friendly, non-toxic, reversible, stylish padded playmats. Okay, it’s a mouthful but we just had to brag on all the features we discovered in the Little Wiwa Playmat range. You know their range is going to suit any home when one of their pattern options is marble!
It goes without saying, any Playroom must include a cosy area with ample seating for your littles to snuggle up in to read their favourite book or throw tea parties with their dolly girl gang. You'll want to opt for something that is versatile both inside and outside of the Playroom, that can grow with your children and still be suitable as they grow older.
Our top finds for practical seating and lounging around include the Daydreamer Lounger Pillow Mats by Softly Summer. They come in a gorgeous range of colourways that will complement any style and are bean-free, you simply slide in 4 pillows and you've got yourself the cutest lounger (hello convenience, cya later mess).
Another fave is the Upsy. Although they were designed as a booster for toddlers (think dinner time chair boosts, hand washing stools, etc) we totally think they are 100% tea party material. The fabric and colour options are always on-trend so you'll find gingham, luxe velvet, polka dots, retro florals and more. We're obsessed!
