Playroom Makeover Tips with @sweetlittlestory

We sat down with Hayley to chat all things storage, organisation and styling when it comes to creating the perfect play room that is fun for play and also matches the rest of your space! Here is what Hayley had to share.

“I wanted to use elements for our playroom that were already in other areas of our home, it makes the styling process easier right from the beginning like the unique rattan pendant by Ocean Luxe, bamboo storage baskets from Hunter & Nomad, as well as a generous amount of timber storage units from Ikea, even though it is a room especially for our three kids, we wanted it to blend seamlessly with the rest of the house & it worked so perfectly for us!”

"This room won’t always be a playroom, kids grow up! Invest in good quality pieces that you can keep in the room once the kids grow out of it!”

Hayley admits that her playroom is definitely 'only perfect in the pictures'. Her kids absolutely tear it apart as they basically live in the toy room. “I do usually get the kids to pack everything away before bed at the end of the day, which is actually not too hard because every single thing now has its own home, and the kids know where it all belongs. But if all else falls, I just shut the door on the mess and VOILA, It disappears!”.

We are all wondering about THAT Storage System set-up . Hayley admits that, 'this is probably the most important aspect of creating a practical playroom space'.

“It was SO easy to make, and cheap too!” Hayley shares with us that she purchased 2 of the TROFAST storage units from Ikea at $126 each, next was a long piece of structural plywood from Bunnings that she had cut to size, costing her approximately $80. Then with the help of her husband, screwed the timber to the top of the two cabinets leaving a gap in between them for a small desk area. Hayley refers to the process as “Easy & affordable!”
